It has been a month since Hurricane Ian made landfall on the barrier island communities of Southwest Florida. There have been many challenges to overcome and difficult decisions to be made by all those impacted by the storm. We are grateful to report all our staff was safe and accounted for after the storm. The Inns of Sanibel Beach & Golf Resorts are committed to rebuilding our unique collection of boutique hotels and have retained many team members to join us on this recovery journey. While we have made progress, it is a slow and painstaking process to remove damaged fixtures/structures, repair systems, begin renovations and conceive plans for building new hotels for those that are beyond repair. Yet we look forward with gratitude and anticipation to the opportunity to enhance our inns and golf club to an even higher standard. Stay tuned for updates on what the future holds; we will return better than ever!
That said, the many small, family-owned businesses on Sanibel, Captiva and surrounding communities have been devastated by Hurricane Ian. We are all working tirelessly to rebuild. This once-in-a-lifetime storm will require once-in-a-lifetime assistance to ensure the survival of our island’s culture and unique community. The level of decimation is impossible to convey through photos; our island needs your help.
We ask you to consider donating to the Sanibel Captiva Chamber or Commerce Go Fund Me Page, The United Way of Lee County, or other recovery relief organization.
We are rebuilding. We will recover. We need help caring for our residents, wildlife and businesses. And, we will welcome you back to our precious island soon.
